Should I let Andre take a Houston job that means leaving our Sunday dinners behind?
Andre (52M) got offered a plant manager job in Houston, $34,000 more a year than what he makes now, and I'm torn up about it y'all. We been in New Orleans our whole marriage, 15 years, and every single one of our four kids and now our grandbabies show up at our house every Sunday, no exceptions, that's just how it is. If we move we'd have to sell the house my mama helped us buy, and Sunday dinner turns into a group text and maybe visits every few months instead of every week. Andre says this is our chance to actually get ahead before he's too old to start over somewhere new, and he's not wrong, we been living paycheck to paycheck longer than I want to admit. But my oldest daughter cried when I told her we were even considering it. My mother lives two streets over and she's 74 now. I keep going back and forth every single night, Andre's ready to put in his notice and I asked him to give me two weeks to decide. I don't even know what I want anymore.
What People Are Saying
Growth is scary but so is staying stuck! $34k could change your WHOLE future 💪 Sunday dinners can survive video calls!
Family don't come around twice a week in most places. Money don't buy back Sundays. I'd Stay.
money aint everything but neither is guilt. sundays wont feed you forever. move if it means breathing room
Family is everything, honey! Money comes and goes but Sunday dinners with your babies do not! Stay close to your mama while you still can. Blessings!
Should I stay in my house, move downtown, or move near my daughter in Ohio?
Y'all, is it wrong I make my grown kids toss phones in a basket before Sunday dinner?!
Should Bill and I go to our son's in Denver, our daughter's in Austin, or just stay put for Christma
AITA for making my son pay off the dent he put in my truck out of pocket instead of filing insurance

A 25% raise, roughly, is not something to dismiss lightly. Run the numbers before letting emotion decide this.
