Pinions Privacy Policy

Pinions ("we", "us") is a social polling app. This policy explains what we collect, why, and your choices. Plain language on purpose.

WHAT WE COLLECT

Account basics: your email address, display name, and profile photo from the sign-in provider you choose (for example Google), plus the @handle you pick.

Birthday: used to make sure you are old enough to use Pinions (13+), to keep age-restricted question targeting away from minors, and for advertising law compliance. We show your age, never your birthday, and only to you.

Optional profile details: gender and state or province, only if you choose to share them. They let other people aim questions at broad groups (for example "women in their 20s"). Skipping them changes nothing about what you can see.

Approximate location: if you tap "Use my location" we capture your position once, at city-level accuracy, reduce it to your state or province plus a point rounded to about one kilometer, and store only that. We never collect or store your precise location, and we never track location in the background.

Things you do in the app: the polls you post, your votes, comments, topics you follow, friends and friend requests, blocks, and reports you file.

Device push tokens: so we can send you notifications you have asked for. You can turn notification types off in Settings.

Crash and diagnostic data: if the app crashes we receive a technical report so we can fix it.

HOW WE USE IT

To run the app: show polls, count votes, deliver notifications, connect friends, and let people target questions at broad audiences. To keep the community usable: blocking, reporting, and moderation. To fix problems: crash reports.

We do not sell your personal information.

WHERE IT LIVES

Your data is stored with Google Firebase (Google LLC), our infrastructure provider, in the United States. Google processes it on our behalf.

WHO CAN SEE WHAT

Public polls, and your @handle, name, photo, and comments on them, are visible to any signed-in user. Friends-only polls are visible to the people you selected. Your vote choices are visible only to you; only totals are public. Gender, birthday, and location are never displayed to other users; they only affect which targeted polls reach you.

YOUR CHOICES

Edit gender, location, and topics in your profile at any time. Turn notification types off in Settings. Block anyone; blocked users cannot see your content, contact you, or send you requests. Delete your account in Settings, which removes your profile, polls, votes, comments authored by you, friends links, tokens, and notifications. Aggregate vote totals, which contain nothing personal, may remain.

CHILDREN

Pinions is for people 13 and older. We do not knowingly collect data from children under 13. If you believe a child under 13 is using Pinions, contact us and we will delete the account.

CHANGES

If this policy changes in a meaningful way we will tell you in the app before the change applies.
