Should I break up with him before he proposes?
I'm 28, he's 30, together almost seven years since college. he was my first everything, first apartment, first serious relationship. when my dad was in the hospital two years ago he drove four hours every weekend so i wouldn't be alone. genuinely the kindest person i know. here's the thing and i know how it sounds: nothing is wrong. we don't fight, he texts good morning every day, we split everything fair. but this past year i started feeling like we're roommates who love each other. more siblings than a couple. i can't remember the last time i felt excited to see him walk in. doing our budget last week i found a payment plan for a 'custom setting' from a jeweler two towns over, broken into small installments so it wouldn't spike the statement and i wouldn't notice. he planned it around the exact system i use. our anniversary is next month. i'm 28 with zero actual complaints. maybe this calm IS what love looks like after the fireworks and i'm about to blow up something rare over a feeling i can't name. or maybe if i have to ask at 28, i already know.
What People Are Saying
comfort after 7 years isn't love dying, it's what love actually becomes. you're grieving fireworks that were always going to fade with anyone
the fact that you're polling strangers a month before he proposes instead of feeling excited is kind of the whole answer
he planned a proposal around the exact budget system you use so you wouldn't notice. that's not a man you feel nothing for. that's attention
Should I accept a dinner invitation from a woman in my book club or stay home?
is it weird to still use the mug my ex gave me for coffee every morning...
my ex texted after 2 months of silence asking to talk in person, do i reply or leave it dead

leaving the guy who sat in that hospital with you over 'we feel like siblings' is something you could regret hard at 40. slow down
