Should I burn my savings to go full-time on the thing I actually love?

34, married, no kids yet. i've been building furniture in my garage for six years, nights and weekends. this past year the orders got real, enough that i think it could be a business, but only if i'm doing it full time instead of after a nine hour day at a job i don't hate but don't feel anything about either. quitting means draining most of our savings for real tools and to cover us for maybe a year while it either takes off or doesn't. my wife (33F) makes decent money and says she believes in me, but i can see the math scaring her, and if it flops i've torched our cushion and put the whole thing on her. part of me thinks if i don't do it now, with no kids and a partner willing, i never will. the other part thinks 'follow your dream' is exactly what people say right before they lose the house.

give it a hard number and an exit date. not paying X by month 10, you go back. the open ended leap is what sinks people

supportive partner, no kids, real orders coming in. this is the lowest risk it will ever be. if not now then never

@bianca_bridalbliss

'she says she believes in me but i can see the math scaring her' is the actual post. don't bet her security without a real number and a deadline
