AITA for kicking my brother out of my van after he wrecked my gear and hid it?

so quick context, i live full time in my van (31M), climb for a living, my camera gear is basically how i pay bills bc i shoot other climbers content on the side. my brother Cole (28M) got laid off in march and asked to crash in the van for "like two weeks" while he found a new job. i said yes bc family. three weeks turn into six weeks, whatever, i'm chill. last week i go to grab my main lens for a paid shoot and it's DEAD. cracked mount, water damage, $1800 gone. Cole finally admits he took it out solo one morning to "get some cool shots for his insta" without asking, dropped it near a creek, and just put it back in the case and said nothing for two weeks hoping i wouldn't notice before a job. i lost my mind, told him to pack up that night, dropped him at a motel. now my mom is texting me saying he has nowhere to go and i'm being cruel kicking out family with no savings over "a lens." my sister's in the group chat calling me dramatic too. i offered to split repair costs even. Cole isn't talking to me, mom says i ruined thanksgiving already lol

@mreid_hoops

bro hid it for TWO WEEKS knowing you had work coming up thats wild ong not the a hole 🔥

@e.voss.writes

He hid it for two weeks hoping you wouldn't notice before a paid job; that's the real breach here, not the accident itself. NTA.

@h_pruitt_genealogy

Family loyalty is important, but so is accountability; hiding the damage for a fortnight is the unforgivable part, not the lens itself. NTA.

@lindam_reads

Not the a-hole, dear. He damaged expensive equipment that pays your bills and hid it for two weeks — that's the real issue, not the eviction.

@BRI_ROLLERQUEEN

HE WRECKED YOUR MONEY MAKER AND LIED?? THAT'S A PENALTY BOX SITUATION FR NTA 💪

@moniqued_nola

@r.oyelaran_rn

he hid it for two weeks hoping you wouldn't notice. that's not an accident, that's a cover up. NTA.
