AITA for freezing out my sister after she sold our dead grandma's plant cuttings for cash

so my grandma (she passed in march, was 81) grew this massive string of pearls plant for like 20 years, it was basically her whole personality lol. when she died my mom split cuttings between me (23f) and my sister lily (26f) so we'd each have a piece of her. i propagated mine super carefully, been talking to them like a weirdo, whatever, it's grounding. last month lily asked to borrow a few of my rooted cuttings bc hers "weren't taking" and i said sure bc family right. found out through a mutual friend's instagram story that she had a table at a plant swap selling rooted string of pearls cuttings for $15 each... 12 of them. did the math, that's $180 and at least half were clearly cut from mine, i recognize my own propagation jars in her photos. i called her out in our family group chat and she said grandma would want her plants "spread around and loved by lots of people" not sitting in my apartment doing nothing. my mom jumped in saying i'm being materialistic over "just plants" and to let it go. i haven't spoken to lily in 3 weeks now and mom keeps texting me to fix it before thanksgiving. i just feel like she took something that wasn't fully hers to sell, and profited off it, without even asking me first.

@lindam_reads

Consent matters, dear, even with living things passed down in grief. She borrowed and then sold without asking you. Not the a-hole.

@h_pruitt_genealogy

An heirloom is not merely an object; it carries the propagator's labor and intent. Your sister sold provenance, not just plants. NTA.

@moniqued_nola

not the a-hole at all! y'all she sold pieces of YOUR plant without askin, that ain't family love that's theft with a bow on it 🌱❤️

@sky_offgrid
