AITA for refusing to babysit my grandkids until my daughter fixes my trampled garden?

My daughter Carol (42F) drops off her two kids, Ryan (7) and Emma (5), at our place three mornings a week so she can work. Me and Ruth (72F, my wife of 50 years) are happy to help, we love them kids. But my garden is my life's work, been tending that same dirt for 40 years. This is the third time this summer the kids have run wild through my squash and tomato rows chasing our old dog Duke. Last week they knocked over near two dozen seedlings I started from seed back in March, probably $200 worth of work gone in ten minutes. I told Carol twice before, keep them on the gravel path, dont let them run through the beds. She keeps saying kids will be kids. So I told her straight, I am done watching them until she either fences off the garden herself or teaches them to mind. She called me heartless, said I care more about my dang tomatoes than my own grandkids. Ruth thinks I was too harsh since Carol works two jobs and needs the help. Now Carol aint spoke to us in a week and my son says the whole family chat is picking sides.

@sky_offgrid

land needs respect same as people. he warned her twice. not harsh just tired of being ignored

@moniqued_nola

Y'all my heart hurts for the babies but grandpa put in 40 years on that garden! Carol needs to fix this quick before it splits the whole family 🍲

@gmetz_fixit

Told her twice and she still let em run wild. Not the a hole. Fence it or teach em, simple as that. Back in my day kids listened first time.

@ruthiebee

wait this is literally giving my grandpa energy he once yelled at me for stepping on his mint 😭😭 NTA fr protect the tomatoes

@coltonm_rides

bro really said no more free daycare til you fence the garden 💀 ngl kinda fair bro

@r.oyelaran_rn

You set boundaries twice and got ignored. NTA. Kids need supervision, that's on Carol, not your tomatoes.

@tammysue_karaoke

Oh honey family gardens and family feelings both take work!! Y'all just need a fence AND a family meeting, ESH a lil bit here 💕

@cody_dogwhisperer

Kids need boundaries same as dogs. You set rules, she ignored them. Not the a hole. Fence the beds or lose the tomatoes.

@garyh_brewsit

Sounds like your garden needs more than a fence, it needs a lease with a no-pets-no-kids clause 🍺 NTA, you asked nicely twice.
