AITA for leaving my brother's rehearsal dinner mid-toast for a tornado warning
my brother Dale (36M) got married last month in Edmond. rehearsal dinner was the night before at this steakhouse his fiancée Priya (33F) picked, family style, like $60 a plate. i'm best man. about halfway through dinner my phone starts blowing up, PDS TORNADO WARNING for a cell tracking straight toward Moore, right where a buddy of mine lives with his two kids. i checked radar under the table, saw the couplet on velocity was ugly, and i just got up and left. told my mom (61F) i'd be back, didn't wait for the toasts, drove 40 min to get eyes on it and relay to my ham group so people had real warning before sirens even went off. storm ended up dropping a brief tornado, no injuries, i got decent structure shots. but i missed my own toast, missed Priya's dad's speech, and by the time i got back everyone was basically done eating and the tables were clearing. Dale didn't say much that night but Priya lost it the next day at the reception, said i made the rehearsal about me. mom's been cold since, says i could've just watched it on tv like a normal person and let the warning play out. i chase because people drive into these things blind without someone relaying ground truth. but i also could've stayed at the table and just tracked it on my phone instead of straight up bailing on my own brother. AITA?
