AITA for telling my sister to move out after she read my deployed husband's private letters?
my husband David (37M) has been deployed for 7 months, PCS'd overseas, and my sister Kayla (32F) moved in with me and the kids in month 2 after she lost her job. in exchange for free rent she watches the kids after school so i can actually work my shifts. it's genuinely been a lifesaver. David still writes actual paper letters, says it feels more real than the FaceTime calls that always freeze. i keep them in a shoebox in my closet, nothing locked, i just never thought i needed to hide anything from my own sister in my own house. last week at my mom's for Sunday dinner Kayla brought up something David wrote me about how shaken up he's been since a guy in his unit got hurt, and how he hasn't been sleeping, said it casual in front of my mom and my aunt like she was just updating everyone. i never told anyone that. David wrote it to ME. i asked her how she knew and she said she found the letters "just sitting out" and figured it was fine since we're family. they were not sitting out, they were in a closed box. i told her to find her own place by the end of the month. now my mom's calling me cold for kicking out the one person helping me hold down the house alone with three kids, and Kayla's telling everyone i'm punishing her for being curious during a hard time.
What People Are Saying
privacy is sacred, especially words meant for one heart across an ocean... your sister crossed a line the moon herself would frown on 🌙
nta those were private letters not a group chat update. your sister overshared trauma that wasnt hers to share 💀
Should I stay in my house, move downtown, or move near my daughter in Ohio?
Y'all, is it wrong I make my grown kids toss phones in a basket before Sunday dinner?!
Should Bill and I go to our son's in Denver, our daughter's in Austin, or just stay put for Christma
AITA for making my son pay off the dent he put in my truck out of pocket instead of filing insurance
