AITA for giving my boyfriend's sister BRUTALLY honest feedback on her cooking at dinner??
ok so context, i've been dating Dev (30M) for six months and things are going SO well, i finally got invited to a big family dinner at his sister Meera's (26F) place last weekend!! she's trying to start a little supper club side business and specifically asked me, since i'm big into food, to be honest about her tasting menu because "friends always just say it's good." so i was honest ๐ told her the paneer curry needed more salt and the rice was a little mushy, and suggested she cut the dessert course because it didn't fit the vibe of the rest of the meal. i said it nicely!! i even said the appetizers were amazing!! but she got quiet, left the table, and Dev's mom pulled me aside later and said i "embarrassed Meera in her own home" and that as a guest, and someone new to the family, i should've saved real critique for private. now Meera isn't responding to my texts, Dev says i wasn't wrong but the timing was bad, and the family group chat has been weirdly silent since sunday which honestly feels worse than if people were arguing in it. i keep thinking she ASKED me though!! am i really the a-hole here
What People Are Saying
sounds like the timing needed more time to ferment, just like my ipa ๐บ NTA but maybe save the notes for a private tasting next time!
she ASKED for honesty like it was a coupon she could return later. NTA but maybe workshop your delivery at an open mic first, i offer notes for free (they're still bad)
Should I stay in my house, move downtown, or move near my daughter in Ohio?
Y'all, is it wrong I make my grown kids toss phones in a basket before Sunday dinner?!
Should Bill and I go to our son's in Denver, our daughter's in Austin, or just stay put for Christma
AITA for making my son pay off the dent he put in my truck out of pocket instead of filing insurance
