AITA for lying to my daughter about having no savings so I could help a friend instead

been saving for about six years, side money from extra hauls, was gonna help Amber (32F) with a down payment on a house out in Ohio. had close to 15k put away for it. told her about the fund maybe a year ago so she'd have something to plan around. then Gary, guy I've been running routes with on and off for over a decade, needed money fast for his wife's surgery. insurance wouldnt cover the whole thing and they were about to lose their place too. gave him the 15k without really thinking twice. when Amber called asking how the house fund was doing I told her I didnt have it no more, said some slow months ate into it. wasnt exactly a lie but wasnt the truth either. last week Gary's wife posted a thank you on facebook naming me specific, saying I saved them. Amber saw it before I got the chance to explain any of it. now she wont answer my calls and her mom is in the family group chat calling me selfish, saying I picked a work buddy over my own kid. I keep thinking Gary needed it more in that moment... still get why she feels lied to though.
