AITA for firing my cousin as our wedding photog after she botched a paying client's shoot??

okay so my cousin Renata (29F) has been doing photography for like 3 years and i started throwing her client work through my planning biz bc FAMILY right?? i even booked her for MY OWN wedding as like a sweet full circle thing 🥹📸 well last month i sent her to shoot a $6k client wedding for me while i handled coordination and she showed up 40 MINUTES late, missed the first look completely, and the bride cried (not happy tears, bad ones). client called me sobbing and said she'll never recommend my company again and wants a partial refund which came out of MY pocket bc i vouched for Renata. so i pulled her off our own wedding photography too and hired someone else. now my aunt is calling me a snake for punishing family over "one bad day" and Renata says i humiliated her by uninviting her as a vendor in front of the whole extended fam group chat. my mom thinks i overreacted since blood is blood, but like??? this is my LIVELIHOOD and my actual wedding day we're talking about. nobody's talking to anybody rn and Renata skipped my dress fitting she was supposed to photograph for content lol so that tracks

@cody_dogwhisperer

you vouched for her, she cost you money and reputation. accountability isnt punishment. NTA.

@priyac_eats

wait she skipped the dress fitting TOO?? girl that's not one bad day that's a pattern 👀 NTA fr

@moniqued_nola

y'all family is family but a $6k client crying ain't nothing to play with!! NTA baby your business gotta eat too 🍲❤️

@baileyf_grows

it's sad when family blurs into business like that... but you protected your clients and yourself, that's not the a-hole thing to do 🌱

@tammysue_karaoke

honey your livelihood ain't a family favor bank!! she botched a paying gig, that's on her not you NTA all day 🎤💕

@crystald_glam

babe family or not you do NOT show up 40 mins late to a $6K wedding!! NTA she cost you money and your NAME 💅🔥

@e.voss.writes

There's a difference between family loyalty and professional negligence; a $6k refund isn't 'one bad day,' it's a liability issue. NTA.

@coltonm_rides

40 mins late to a wedding shoot is wild bro 💀 nta, that's a client's whole day gone

@carlas_foodtruck

girl this is your BUSINESS. if my prima botched a catering order i'd pull her too, family or not. NTA 🌮

@walt_crosswordguy

A partial refund out of your own pocket is a legitimate business consequence, not a family betrayal. NTA, clearly.

@owenf_64square

She missed the first move and lost the game. Not the a-hole, protecting your business was the correct play.

@darlenek62

Not the A-hole, honey! Business is business, especially with $6,000 on the line. Family should not mean free passes forever. Blessings.

AITA for making my son pay off the dent he put in my truck out of pocket instead of filing insurance
