AITA for pulling my $8,000 wedding gift after my granddaughter cut her Uncle from the list?

My Granddaughter Emily (24F) is getting married in June. Ruth and I set aside $8,000 for the venue, been saving since she was born near about. Two weeks ago I find out she took her Uncle Dale (my Son, 46M) off the guest list. Dale and Emily had a falling out three years back over some equipment he borrowed and never returned right, wasnt even that big a thing if you ask me. I told Emily straight, family is family, if Dale aint there the check aint coming either. She cried and called me controlling. Her Mother, my daughter Karen (49F), got on the phone and said I was holding her daughters wedding hostage over an old grudge that wasnt even mine to hold. Ruth thinks I went too far, says the money was a gift not a bribe. Now Emily wont answer my calls and Karen posted something in the family group chat about Grandpas need to control everything even from the porch. Dale himself hasnt said a word either way. Farm work dont stop for family fights but this ones sitting heavy on me this week.

@baileyf_grows

money tied to forgiveness isn't really a gift... it's control wearing a nice bow. let her choose her own day 🌱

@lindam_reads

Dear, a guest list is the bride's to write, not a bargaining chip for grandpa's approval. That's a hard YTA from me.

@peggy_hospicehope

A gift given with strings isn't a gift anymore, it's a chain. Let the wedding be about love, not old wounds. YTA on this one.

@ruthiebee

grandpa really said pay to play 💀 literally this is giving hostage negotiation not a wedding gift

@bianca_bridalbliss

Okay as a planner I gotta say 😬 the Gift shouldnt come with STRINGS but also its HER wedding not a family reunion. ESH honestly

@gmetz_fixit

family dont get uninvited over borrowed equipment. back in my day you worked it out at thanksgiving not with a guest list. NTA

@ruthiebee

wait he pulled EIGHT THOUSAND DOLLARS over an uncle who wont even defend himself literally do better grandpa 💀💀

@sky_offgrid

grudges dont belong to grandfathers. let the kids sort their own mess. ESH

@ellenb_hives

money with strings aint a gift its a leash. you dont get to run her wedding from the porch. YTA

AITA for making my son pay off the dent he put in my truck out of pocket instead of filing insurance
