AITA for telling a family their dog isn't the problem, they are, and then keeping the fee?

me (41M), board and train, five dogs of my own. took a lab (3M, the dog) for three weeks for reactivity. dog was fine with me by day four. genuinely fine. the reactivity was contextual and the context was the house. i film everything, so i had three weeks of a calm dog on video. when they collected i told them straight: the dog isn't reactive, the dog is responding to how the house runs — three people giving different commands, one of them using the crate as punishment, kid allowed to wake him. the father said he paid two thousand dollars for a trained dog and got a lecture. he wanted a refund. i didn't give it. i said the training happened, it's on video, and the part he's unhappy about is the part that's his. my sister says i took two grand off a family to tell them they're bad owners. i say i took two grand to train a dog and did.

The crate as punishment and a kid allowed to wake him. That dog is going to be rehomed within a year and it will be labeled aggressive.

NTA on the fee. But three weeks of video and a handover conversation isn't a handover — did they get sessions in the house? That's where the money should have gone.

NTA. You delivered the actual diagnosis instead of the one they wanted. That's what they paid for even if it isn't what they hoped for.

They got two follow-ups in the package and haven't booked either. That's fair criticism though, I should push harder on those being the point.

NTA. A man who wanted the dog fixed and not the house was never going to like the answer whenever you gave it.

ESH-lite. Right diagnosis, delivered at a car door on collection day in front of the kid probably. There's a version with the same content and a better room.
