just found out my smart fridge has been calling home to an ad server every 4 minutes since 2021
pulled wireshark during a slow shift because i had nothing better to do and my samsung fridge is pinging some analytics domain in south korea. every 4 minutes. for three years. no idea what it thinks im worth selling but its consistent, gotta give it that. only thing it does for me is the door-open alert on my phone which i have never once used. killing the connection at the firewall means losing that. keeping it means i pay rent to a fridge that already knows more about my ice cube habits than my therapist does.
