AITA for helping the groom keep a $22k venue swap secret from his bride?
ok so I plan weddings for a living and normally I do NOT get in the middle of stuff like this but here we are 😅 my clients are Meg (29F) and Danny (31M), wedding is in 5 months. Danny pulled me aside at a vendor meeting back in Feb and told me PRIVATELY that his hours got cut at work and he can't actually afford the $22k barn venue Meg fell in love with, but he begged me not to tell her yet bc he wanted to "figure it out" and surprise her with a solution instead of just crushing her. So for two months I told Meg the barn had "scheduling conflicts" and quietly started pricing backup venues, feeling SO gross about it the whole time honestly. Well Meg found a text from Danny to me on his laptop last week where I said "still stalling her on the barn" and she LOST it. She's convinced I picked his side and lied straight to her face for months, and honestly when she says it like that it does sound bad?? Danny thinks I did nothing wrong bc I was just trying to protect him from an awkward money convo. Meg's mom is now telling her to fire me. Group chat with the couple has been dead silent since Tuesday and I genuinely don't know if I still have this wedding.

Vote: You're the A-hole. Being asked to lie doesn't obligate you to comply; you had a professional duty of transparency to BOTH clients, not just the one paying you compliments.
