ok so i been at vinyl underground for almost 5 years now, started at $11 an hour sorting bins and now i basically run the soul and funk section, know every regular by name and crate. pete (58m) who owns it gave me my first job when i had zero retail experience and lets me spin upstairs on weekends for free, thats literally how i built my whole dj thing. groove merchant across town, the bigger shop with the listening booths and the better parking, offered me assistant manager. $4 more an hour, actual health insurance, 401k match even. but no upstairs bar, no weekend sets, and pete would have to hire and train someone new right before the holidays which is our busiest stretch. i keep telling myself its just a job but it doesnt feel like just a job when its where i learned everything and where half my regulars only come in cause they trust my ear. pete would understand if i left, hes not gonna guilt me, thats what makes it worse honestly. groove merchant needs an answer by friday and i still dont know what im gonna say
