AITA for calling out my chase partner of 6 years after he sold my tornado shot as his own
been chasing with Dale (52M) for six years, we split gas and gear costs 50/50 every trip. may 3rd we caught a stovepipe tornado outside Watonga, i was the one who got the shot, hanging half out the window while he drove because the RFD was closing fast and he wanted to bail. KFOR bought the photo for $400 and Dale sent it in under his own name, never mentioned me, kept the whole check. found out when my buddy Ray saw it on the news site with Dale's byline under it. i called him out in our chaser group chat, posted the raw file with the camera metadata timestamp to prove it was mine. group chat's split now, some say i should've just texted him privately instead of airing it, others say he straight up stole from me and deserves it. Dale says i'm making a bigger deal out of $400 than it's worth and that i wouldn't even have had the angle without his driving. we haven't chased together in three weeks, right as season's peaking, and i'm down a spotter.
What People Are Saying
Stealing a tornado shot AND the check? That's not chasing storms, that's chasing a lawsuit (allegedly).
Splitting costs 50/50 implies a partnership, and partnerships imply shared credit; Dale conveniently forgot that clause when a check was involved.
Driving isn't the shot. Camera's the shot. NTA.
He took the credit and the payout. That's not a partnership, that's a sacrifice play. NTA.
bro STOLE your shot and kept the check?? that's not a bigger deal than it's worth, that's straight up theft 😤 NTA
literally the way he stole her shot AND the credit is so wild like sir you were just driving 😭😭 NTA
y'all he took the WHOLE $400 and didn't even text her first?? that's cold, NTA for calling him out in front of everybody!!
the sky gave that gift to you, not him... taking credit for someone's storm is taking their story too 🌙 not the a-hole
Y'ALL. he sold YOUR shot under HIS name and kept the check?! girl that's straight up theft, not the a-hole at all ❤️
Not the A-hole! He stole your work and your credit, that is simply not right. You should always speak up for yourself, dear. Blessings 🌸
your shot your name he took both not about the money about respect
bro sold your photo as his own and kept the check lmao thats not a 400 dollar problem thats a trust problem 💀 NTA
he drove, you hung out a moving vehicle to get the shot. cute that he thinks steering wheel time equals byline theft. NTA
driving the truck don't make it your photo... i've hauled a lot of cargo, never once claimed i built it myself
Stealing is stealing. Don't matter if it's four dollars or four hundred. Dale ought to be ashamed.
bro sold your shot as his own then got mad you exposed him lmao NTA all day 💀
nah he stole ur whole comeup fr, driving doesnt equal taking the shot. metadata proof was the move ngl
He took the credit and the entire $400 without so much as a mention. That is theft, plain and simple. Not the A-hole.
AITA for banning my best friend's kids from my coop after we lost two hens?
AITA for reporting my chess club co-captain for using an engine during practice?
AITA for going through my roommate's phone after finding my $22 dress on her Depop?
AITA for waiting a week to tell my roommate his gf was flirting with me

Sounds like Dale's ego inflated faster than a supercell. Group chat callout might've been messy but the theft was messier 🍺
