AITA for asking my gf to pay gas money

Ok, so this happened a while ago, but it's been rolling around in my head for years now and I think it's finally time I ask. So, I knew a girl, let's call her Sunny. we knew eachother for a long time but we met through her work so I never really considered a relationship like that. years after first meeting and still keeping lightly in touch I reached out about something related to our past dealings and mentioned I was going hiking. she said she liked to hike and I invited her along. I thought of this as just friendship as she had mentioned in the past being in a serious relationship. we went on the hike and had a good time. I had also mentioned a friend and i were going backpacking in a few months and if she was interested she could come along. she said she would. now, we started a group chat and I said I'd drive if they both would pay for gas. i said $20 each would be enough. they said that sounded good. didn't think anything of it. jump forward a few weeks, Sunny and I started dating. she was funny and friendly and everything seemed to be going fine. we were out with friends a bit away from home and she realized she had to use the restroom so we stopped at a gas station. i went in with her and while waiting i bought a lottery ticket to pass the time. when we got back in the car, i scratched it and turns out I won $20. i told her she could have it, since I always forget to take them back into the store. it then popped into my head that she owed me $20 for gas for the upcoming trip and said, you can cash it and give it back to me for the trip and then you won't owe me anything. Now, i said this as a joke, but I could see how it might seem like I was really hard up for the $20. i wasn't and in fact had forgot about the money until that moment. she said something along the lines of, wait, you still expect me to pay you for that? and i said, well i assumed yes since she and my friend agreed. she said since we're dating she didn't think she'd have to. I said that though i agree, i think we probably should have kind of touched base on it with a "do you still want that $20 for the gas" and i would have probably said no. but it seemed weird assuming i would just pay. I don't even thinks its a big deal, just a miscommunication but the tone she used when we talked made her seem like i had just insulted her. we broke up a month or so later, unrelated to this incident, so, i guess it doesn't matter but i guess i'm curious, AITA?
