so background me (24m) live with two roommates from the meet scene, derek (26m) is one of them been living together like a year and a half. derek's got a girlfriend maya (25f) they've been together like 8 months, she's over at our place constantly, cool girl honestly. last week i'm charging my phone off derek's laptop bc mine died and his messages just pop up on the screen, not even snooping, and it's him and my ex jess (24f) going back and forth for weeks. nothing crazy explicit but def not "just friends" energy, lots of "miss ur face" type stuff and him asking if she's seeing anyone. jess and i broke up like 5 months ago on decent terms so this isn't some jealousy thing for me, i genuinely do not care about jess like that anymore. sat on it for like 2 days then told maya straight up bc i'd want to know if it was flipped. she confronted derek that night, huge blowup, she left and hasn't been back since, derek found out i showed her the screenshots (i sent maya photos of his screen as proof) and now he's not talking to me, other roommate says i should've just told derek to knock it off privately instead of going to maya. house is dead silent rn 💀 group chat's just been me and other roommate talking about groceries like nothing happened
