AITA for hiding the good spatula so my roommate stops torching eggs in it
ok so my roommate jared (27m) cannot cook. like at all. every morning he makes eggs and somehow turns the good nonstick spatula into a lava rock, scrapes it against the pan like he's mining for gold. i bought that spatula for $14 specifically because it was nonstick and now it's basically a butter knife with extra steps. i told him twice bro use the wood one for eggs. he says he forgets. so last week i just... hid it. put it in my closet behind my tattoo binder where he'd never look. now he's convinced our OTHER roommate mike (29m) took it and there's been a whole group chat investigation, screenshots, accusations, the works. mike is big mad he's getting blamed. i still haven't said anything. jared bought a new spatula off amazon and is STILL scraping it wrong, so honestly the crime continues either way. mike thinks i should come clean before this turns into an actual roommate war. i think it's kind of funny watching him spiral over a $14 kitchen tool. we do not have a chores chart, we just vibe and apparently lie to each other now 💀

Letting Mike absorb the blame while you privately enjoy the chaos is where this tips into asshole territory; the spatula crime was minor, the cover-up is not.
