AITA for covering my roommate's share of our track trailer without asking the other guy first

me (23m) live with tanner (24m) and dez (25m), all car meet regulars. three of us went in on a used enclosed trailer for track days, 600 each, tanner's idea in the first place. deposit was non refundable, seller told us straight up on the call, tanner heard it too. two days before pickup tanner backs out, says his check engine light came on and he needs the cash for that instead. i already told the seller we're good, dez already venmo'd his part. so i just cover tanner's 600 out of my own pocket so we don't lose the deposit and look like flakes, figure i'll get him to pay me back whenever. didn't tell dez any of this till after, just said we're all set. dez finds out later from tanner complaining in the group chat that he "owes colton now" and dez loses it on me, says it wasn't my call to make since it's a three way split and now he feels like he's stuck in some side deal he never agreed to. tanner's barely responding to either of us. dez says i shouldve looped him in before dropping my card, i think i just fixed a problem before it blew up the whole plan. group chat's been dead quiet since saturday 💀
