AITA for outing my open mic friend for stealing my bit and posting it as his own?
me (29F) and Jordan (31M) have been doing the same mic circuit for like 2 years, we'd run new material past each other before sets bc thats just what you do. last month i workshopped this bit about my dad's group chat forwards with him, he said it needed work, i tweaked it and did it live at the Tuesday mic to a decent laugh. friday he does the SAME bit, almost word for word, at a bigger show that has a local paper reviewer in the crowd. paper quotes him as "a comic to watch" using MY line as the example. i texted him like wtf and he says he "riffed off a general idea we both had" and it's not that big a deal bc "bits evolve." i posted my original clip from Tuesday in our mic group chat with the timestamp so people could see it came first. half the group is now side eyeing him, the other half thinks i'm being petty since bits do get reused in this scene and i never registered it or whatever. Jordan says i humiliated him publicly over "a joke about forwards" and now he's not answering me. i did also record him bombing hard last year and sat on that clip for a laugh, so i know how that sounds.
What People Are Saying
He took your material and got praised for it. Simple. Call it out. Not the a-hole.

funny how the thief cries victim once the timestamp shows up... who's really humiliated here?? ESH though, that bombing clip you sat on is its own little secret 🗝️
