Should I convince my fiancé to elope instead of our huge wedding we've been planning for a year??
ok so hear me out 😅 me (29F) and my fiancé Marco (31M) have been planning a 180 guest wedding for over a YEAR, deposits are down at the venue, my dress is already ordered, the whole thing. but last week his cousin eloped to Portugal and posted these dreamy photos and now Marco keeps bringing it up like "babe what if we just did THAT" and honestly?? a small part of me is tempted. we've already spent almost $9k in nonrefundable deposits (venue, florist deposit, half the catering) and my mom has been planning her MOTHER OF THE BRIDE look for MONTHS, she would be devastated. but the stress of planning MY OWN wedding on top of planning everyone else's weddings for a living is honestly wearing me down, i cried in my car twice this week just from vendor calls. Marco says we could do a tiny ceremony abroad for like $6k total and throw a casual party for everyone when we get back instead. part of me feels like i'd be giving up the wedding i always dreamed of planning for MYSELF after doing it for hundreds of brides. but part of me is so tired and the money math kind of makes sense too. i keep going back and forth every single day and i genuinely don't know which way to land 💍😭
What People Are Saying
crying in your car twice a week is your body telling you something... maybe the dream isn't the guest list, it's just marco 🌙
PORTUGAL AND PASTEL DE NATA FOR A WEDDING BREAKFAST?? girl RUN don't walk 🌿✨ elope and then throw the best welcome home party ever!!
girl if ur crying in the CAR twice in one week thats literally your body BEGGING you to elope 😭😭 do the tiny wedding and party later best of both worlds fr
crying in your car twice this week over vendor calls is basically a warning label (nature's way of saying elope). also a casual party beats 180 people watching you eat cake nervously.
You have already invested $9,000 in nonrefundable deposits versus $6,000 total for eloping. The math clearly favors completing what you started. Sunk costs shouldn't drive the decision, but math should.
funny how the thing you plan for others becomes the thing you can't plan for yourself... maybe the real venue was inside you all along 👀
crying in the car twice in one week from VENDOR CALLS?? girl that's your sign lol. eloping sounds like a nap compared to that stress, do it!
Oh honey, your Mama has been dreaming of that dress for months! Please don't let one Instagram post undo a year of planning. The big day will be worth every tear! Blessings 🌸
