should i drop $9k of my house fund into a turbo build or keep saving like an adult
so i (24m) got 9 grand saved up toward a down payment on a place someday, been stacking it for like 2 years working at the shop. my buddy just got a wrecked wrx and is basically parting it out cheap and there's a full turbo kit, injectors, the whole setup practically new for what it'd cost me retail just for the turbo alone. my civic could genuinely be a 500whp car with this stuff, i've been chasing that build in my head since high school. my roommates think im insane cause we all live paycheck to paycheck already and one of them straight up said "bro you'll be 35 still renting a room from some guy on craigslist." but also like when am i ever gonna get a deal like this again, parts like this dont just fall in your lap. my mom keeps texting me articles about first time buyer programs which isnt helping my anxiety about it lol. i know logically the house money is the smart move. but the car meet part of my brain is screaming that i'll regret not sending it way more than i'll regret not owning a house at 30. genuinely torn here
