AITA for saying no when my neighbor asked to bury his dog on my land?
me (78M), retired farmer, married 50 years to Ruth. my neighbor (55M) has been next to us eleven years, decent fella. his dog died in july. old collie, good dog, i knew that dog. he asked if he could bury her at the top of my back field, under a sycamore, because his own place is all clay and rock and he'd have needed a machine. i said no. the reason is i'm selling in about two years and moving in with our daughter, and i'm not putting something on that land that the next people have to be told about or have to find. i said that to him plainly. he took it fine to my face. ruth says he's been different since — waves, doesn't stop. our daughter says it was a dog and a hole in a field and i could have given a grieving man that. she's not wrong that it's a small thing. it stops being small when you've got to write it on a form.

NTA but there's a version you didn't offer — help him dig at his place, or find him someone with a machine. He wasn't really asking for your field, he was asking for help.
