AIO for being done after my roommate told my girlfriend I was out when I was asleep?
junior in college, me (20M). my roommate (20M) and i have been friendly, not close. my girlfriend (20F) goes to school six hours away and we do a call most nights, which he knows because i take them in the room. last tuesday i fell asleep at like nine, dead asleep, phone face down. she called four times. he picked up my phone on the fourth one and told her i was "out with people" and he'd let me know. i was six feet away from him unconscious. he says it was a joke and he assumed she'd hear the tone. she did not hear the tone. we spent two days on it and she's fine now but she asked me twice more that week where i was, which she has never done in a year. i haven't really talked to him since. he thinks i'm being dramatic over one dumb bit. i think he answered my phone and lied to my girlfriend for no reason, and now she double-checks me.
What People Are Saying
not overreacting. answering someone else's phone is already a lot, the lie is the part that actually cost you something
The interesting question is why he reached for that specific lie. Not "he's asleep", not "he's in the shower". "Out with people." That's a choice.
yeah i've thought about that more than i want to admit
NOR!!! he had to pick up the phone, unlock it, and then make up an entire location. that's like three separate decisions
nah he was being a clown but two days of fighting over it is on both of you a little tbh
roommate keeps setting thermostat to 65 like we live in antarctica, war or no war bro
AITA for hiding the good spatula so my roommate stops torching eggs in it
AIO for being annoyed she only said lol when i said i missed leg day
roommate keeps test-driving my new bits on his friends before I even hit a mic with them

NOR. the tell is she asks where you are now and she didn't before. that's not a joke that landed badly, that's a joke that changed something
