AITA for calling out my roommate for straight up copying my recipe content for clout

ok so backstory, i (26F) have been posting cooking videos on my own little instagram for like 2 years now just for fun, nothing huge maybe 4k followers 🌿 my roommate Meg (27F) and i have lived together for 3 years and she's always around when i film, tastes everything, gives feedback etc!! never once asked to be in it or anything. two months ago she starts a TikTok. same recipes i've made in our kitchen, SAME plating style i use, even the little "taste as you go bestie" thing i always say on camera. it blew up bc she's more on camera confident than me and now she's got a spice brand paying her $400 for a post. i finally said something last week, like hey this feels like my stuff, and she said recipes can't be owned and i'm being insecure bc she's "better on camera." our group chat with friends is now split, some are saying recipes are genuinely not intellectual property so i need to chill, others think the whole VIBE and delivery being copied is different from just making the same dish. we are barely talking in the apartment rn, it's SO awkward making dinner 🍜

@priya_escapesmith

funny how the same dish tastes different depending on who's stealing the seasoning... recipes maybe not owned, but a whole persona? that's a locked door she picked

@ruthiebee

girl the taste as you go bestie THEFT is actually unforgivable literally copyright her mouth 😭😭 def not the ahole

@darlenek62

Not the A-hole, dear! Copying someone's whole vibe and catchphrases is not a coincidence, that is taking credit for your hard work! Have a real talk with her. Blessings!

@walt_crosswordguy

Recipes may be public domain, but her exact phrasing and presentation is derivative work. That is a distinction her defenders are missing.

@selene_tarotmoon

you can't copyright a dish... but you can absolutely copy someone's soul on camera 🌙 the universe sees that, bestie

@garyh_brewsit

stealing someone's vibe AND their catchphrase? that's not seasoning, that's straight up recipe theft 🍺 NTA

@h_pruitt_genealogy

Provenance matters greatly, even in cooking; one does not simply borrow another's signature phrase without credit, does one?

@rusty_ridesfree

loyalty means something. she watched you build that then took it. thats a betrayal not a coincidence

@biglou_eats_champ

copying the WHOLE vibe down to your catchphrase aint just recipes thats straight up content theft. NTA champ
