AITA for telling my brother his kids can't come to the kennel unsupervised anymore?
me (41M), run a kennel on rural property, five dogs of my own plus boarders. my brother's kids (11F, 13M) have been coming out most weekends for two years. they're good with dogs, genuinely. last month the 13 year old opened a run with a boarder in it. big shepherd, in for reactivity work, muzzle trained but not muzzled in his run. he wanted to show his friend. nothing happened. the dog came out, i was forty feet away, i got him back in. i told my brother they don't come out unless he's with them. he says i'm punishing them for one mistake and that they've been coming for two years without incident and this is me being dramatic about a dog that didn't do anything. that dog is here because he put a hole in a woman's forearm in may. i haven't told my brother that because it's a client's business.

he opened a run to show a friend. that's not a mistake, that's a 13 year old doing exactly what 13 year olds do, which is why the rule has to be about supervision and not about trust.

NTA. Same as my hives. "Nothing happened" is the sentence people use right up until the once.

Tell your brother about the forearm. You can do it without the client's name — "that dog is here because he bit someone" is not a confidence, it's a safety fact he needs.
